Acupuncture: A New Treatment Option for Pain
health July 11th. 2019, 3:33amInstead of a pill, an old Chinese medicine approach is now an available treatment option for pain patients. “It’s something that’s becoming more and more mainstream,” said Renee Sarra, a massage therapist and licensed acupuncturist with Lee Health. “Acupuncture is just another form of energy work. We can place a needle somewhere and that needle will move energy so that you feel better and think better.”
Some physicians are now seeing acupuncture as an additional way to treat patients with certain medical conditions like chronic pain, depression and digestive problems. “What I’m seeing is low back pain, sciatica, that kind of thing. It seems like people are getting excellent responses with that,” said Sarra.
When toxins build up in the body, it can cause physical, emotional, and internal pain. Acupuncture works to draw toxins and negative energy out of the body to relieve the pain. “You don’t have to take a pill, so you have less side effects,” said Sarra.
Once the toxins are released, patients can feel the difference. “You feel more alive and freer so that’s the beauty with acupuncture,” said Sarra.
The goal of acupuncture is to restore the balance of energy by removing stress from parts of the body. A technique that can help improve a patient’s overall health.
